Cancel everything?

Every week I have a meeting with my team members. And last week… 

I was SPENT. 

You know the feeling? My brain could not focus on anything. 

I looked at my strategist (over Zoom of course) and said, “Let’s just cancel everything.”

Despite a long list of projects, I’d been sitting on the deck, watching the clouds go by.

That’s all I wanted to do.

Now…this isn’t my style. I’m an extremely productive person. I SLAY to-do lists. 

Losing motivation is telling. 

It’s one of those burnout symptoms I’m always talking about.

Here are some others: 

  • Exhaustion
  • Not enjoying activities
  • Yelling
  • Zoning out 
  • Sleep problems 
  • Feeling overwhelmed 
  • Feeling puffy or bloated 
  • Digestion problems 
  • Lethargy 
  • Not wanting to get out of bed

Burnout can happen anytime – but especially right now, during the covid pandemic. There are a million extra reasons you might be feeling overloaded and starting to crash.

I know I was.

I realized I simply cannot keep going at this pace. I’ve been running two businesses, caring for my two elementary school boys full time and homeschooling, going through a divorce, etc. etc.

I know you have your own list of sh*t you’re dealing with.

I exercise. I prioritize sleep. I eat vegetables. You probably do too. 

But there’s also been a lot more snacking and wine and habits that don’t serve us well in the long run. Am I right?

I need my energy, I need my focus. I have major responsibilities. (Maybe I can cancel some of them, but not all.)

Time to make some changes

So I decided to commit to 5 days of structure and healthy habits. 

This is something I’ve done before. I’ve done this with CLIENTS before. 

I’ve been working with women for 11 years and I know exactly which foods make the biggest difference, the most often, to how we look and feel. 

And actually…I have a really excellent plan already created. It was sitting on my computer. The food is really delicious and easy. There’s nothing strange involved that I wouldn’t be able to get at the store right now.

I know it works. I’ve seen it work. 

Not just physically. I mean YES you start to feel better in your body. 100%. 

But it always magically changes your stress levels, your patience and the way you handle life’s ups and downs. Your brain gets sharper and moods get better.

Everything improves when you take the load off your system and allow it to work properly. 

Break out the plan

This is the strangest, most unsettling time we’ve ever lived through. 

The perfect time to bring back a system that works…if for no other reason than keeping my immune system strong.

It’s not about counting calories. I’m not going to weigh myself. And I’m not going to stop eating desserts.

But I am going to eat real, whole food for 3 meals a day. Plus snacks. That means I’m going to have a grocery list for all of those meals…and a food prep plan. I’m going to move my body, go to bed on time and, you know…

Prioritize myself.

But I know I’m not the only one that can use this.
